Understanding
How to read LTC whale positioning
Hyperliquid is fully on-chain, which makes it the one venue where large traders' positions are publicly verifiable in real time. We track the 100 largest accounts and snapshot their open LTC positions every five minutes, building the position history that centralized exchanges never expose.
Size does not equal conviction. A large short can be a market maker hedging spot inventory or a basis trade against a long elsewhere. What carries information is change: a wallet flipping side, leverage rising across the cohort, or the long/short balance swinging hard in one direction.
The history bars above cover June 2026 onward. As the dataset grows, comparing today's whale lean against its own history becomes the real signal, the same way COT extremes work in futures.
Common Questions
Why do positions disappear between refreshes?
Positions closed or dropped below our tracking threshold. We snapshot every 5 minutes; anything between snapshots is invisible by design.
Is whale LTC positioning predictive?
On its own, weakly. Combined with funding rates (what retail pays) and open interest it frames who is positioned where, which is context, not advice.
Can I verify these numbers?
Yes. Every wallet links to Hyperliquid's own explorer. Nothing here is our estimate; it is chain state.
